His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the ongoing construction of the Orlu-Mgbe-Urualla-Akokwa road, accompanied by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Ralph Nwosu, and other top government officials.
The Governor visited the construction site to inspect progress on the road and bridge infrastructure, which have been severely made impassable by massive ravine and gullies caused by years of ecological and environmental degradation. These natural challenges had previously rendered the road impassable, dividing it into disconnected sections and hindering transportation and economic activities in the region.
During the visit, Governor Uzodinma directed the contractor to adhere strictly to the specifications outlined in the project contract. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering a durable and well-constructed road that meets the expectations of the people of Ideato Nation and Imo State as a whole. The Governor emphasized that the completion of the road would enhance socio-economic development and improve access and connectivity across Imo State and the South East.
Speaking at the inspection, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Ralph Nwosu, highlighted the critical importance of the road to the economic growth of the state. He expressed confidence that the project would be completed in record time. The Works Commissioner assured residents that the state government engaged a reputable contractor for the project and is committed to maintaining the high standards exhibited in other completed projects, such as the Owerri-Orlu and Owerri-Okigwe roads.
The inspection underscores His Excellency, the Governor administration’s resolve to prioritize infrastructure development as a catalyst for economic progress and improved living standards in State.
