Abia State House of Assembly at plenary has passed into law ten Executive bills and the Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Okezie Augustine who presided during the plenary noted that the laws shall be cited as follows; Abia State Ombudsman/Public Complaints Citizens’ Right Commission Law, Abia State Roads Maintenance Repeal Law, Abia State Bureau of Public Procurement Amendment Law, Abia State Orientation Agency Amendment Law, Abia State Basic Environmental Amendment Law, Umuahia Capital Development Authority Amendment Law, Abia State Physical Planning and Infrastructural Development Fund Amendment Law, Abia State Estates Development Agency Repeal law, Abia State Homeland Security Agency Law, and finally Abia State Fire Service Amendment Law.
Announcing the cheering news at plenary, Rt. Hon. Augustine, congratulated his colleagues for their collective supports to the passage of these important meaningful bills into laws and further said that apart from Abia State Fire Service Amendment Law that would take effects from Tuesday 20th day of May, 2025 that the other remaining nine laws shall take effects from today dated Wednesday 14th day of May, 2025, he added.
The House adjourned plenary to reconvene on Tuesday 20th May, 2025 through a motion moved and seconded by the Majority leader of the House, Hon. Okoro Uchenna and Rt. Hon. Mandela Obasi (Ohafia -North) by 9am.
