In a symbolic move aligning traditional governance with youth empowerment, the traditional ruler of Okahia Autonomous Community in Obingwa Local Government Area, Eze Okey Jacob Ananaba, has inaugurated a new Youth Executive Council, urging them to serve with diligence, fairness, and the fear of God.
Speaking during the official oath-taking ceremony, Eze Ananaba said the emergence of the youth leadership marks a new beginning not only for the young people of the community but also for himself, as it coincides with his silver jubilee as the traditional ruler of Okahia.
The monarch took a reflective journey into his 25-year reign, highlighting key achievements, including the installation of six transformers across the community—an upgrade from the lone unit available at the start of his reign. He emphasized that his administration has remained committed to infrastructural growth and human development, especially among the youth.
Charging the newly inaugurated executives not to disappoint the people, the monarch advised them to consult their patrons and the palace when necessary, stressing that their leadership must reflect unity, discipline, and commitment to the well-being of all.
He also noted that the decision to revamp youth leadership structures was part of the community’s strategy to align itself with the vision of the Governor Alex Otti-led administration, in keeping with the goals of the New Abia agenda.
The newly inaugurated Youth Executive Council includes:
- Ndubuisi Olewe – President
- Onyenduzi Nwaozichi – Vice President

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly inaugurated officials, Youth President Ndubuisi Olewe expressed gratitude to the monarch and his cabinet for entrusting them with leadership. He promised that the new team would deliver effective, community-centered governance, rooted in transparency and accountability.
Earlier in the event, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Enyinnaya Ugorji, alongside Secretary Pastor Kingsley Olewe, explained that the elections were conducted at the village level, with each village responsible for electing its representative for the allocated positions. They maintained that the process was free, fair, and widely accepted.
Community members, including Elder Ezinwa Ogbonna, the Deputy President-General of the Community, and stakeholders, applauded the transparent process and commended the traditional ruler, his council, and the electoral committee for promoting youth participation in community governance.
