The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has issued a directive compelling the prosecution to disclose specific documents linked to a new witness in the ongoing trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Today’s session, presided over by Hon. Justice James K. Omotosho, concluded with a significant ruling that mandates the Federal Government’s legal team to serve the defense counsel with documents relevant to the direct examination of the newly introduced witness.
Lead defense counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, disclosed the update shortly after the adjournment via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating:
“Today’s hearing in Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case is done. Further hearings will be held on 7th & 8th May for the direct examination of a new witness. The high point was a ruling made by the judge, ordering the prosecution to serve us certain documents relating to the new witness.”

The legal proceedings, part of the long-running suit FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015, resumed on May 6 with an earlier cross-examination of the prosecution’s lead witness, and will now continue on May 7 and 8, 2025.
