A Royal Milestone: Celebrating 25 Years of a Modern Monarch
As Okahia Kingdom honours HRM Eze OJ Ananaba’s Silver Jubilee, we reflect on a reign that successfully blends deep-rooted tradition with modern progress.

Today, November 8, 2025, is a day of profound joy for the people of Okahia Kingdom in Obingwa LGA. It marks the 71st birthday of their Paramount Ruler, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Eze OJ Ananaba, Okahia 1.

This birthday, however, is especially significant. It serves as the prelude to an even greater milestone: his Silver Jubilee. While the formal, grand celebration of his 25 years on the throne is set for December 18th, today offers a perfect moment to reflect on the man and the monarch whose leadership has defined an era.

In a time when the role of traditional institutions is constantly evolving, HRM Eze Ananaba stands as a prime example of a modern monarch. His journey to the throne, which he ascended in 2000, was not merely a matter of inheritance. It was preceded by decades of rigorous academic pursuit and high-level corporate experience, which have become the hallmarks of his reign.

Born into the respected family of Late Elder Jacob Anyanwu Ananaba, the young prince’s path was one of intellectual diligence. After a distinguished secondary education that saw him pass out with a Division One (16 aggregate), he pursued a B.Sc (Hons) in Chemistry from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka. This scientific training, which demands precision, analysis, and a methodical approach, would later prove invaluable.

Before his royal calling, Eze Ananaba built an impressive professional career. From an Actuarial Clerk at Crusader Insurance in Lagos to a Quality Control Manager with Adapalm (Nig) Ltd under the renowned SOCFINCO Group, and later as the pioneer Quality Control and Marketing Manager for Abiapalm Nig. Ltd, he was a man seasoned in management, standards, and strategic growth. He was not an accidental leader; he was a trained one.

This unique blend of a scientist’s mind, a manager’s acumen, and a farmer’s connection to the land (evident in his successful private enterprises) has defined his 25 years on the throne. His leadership is not built on edicts alone, but on experience. When he speaks, it is with the authority of a traditional ruler, the logic of a chemist, and the practical wisdom of a business leader.

His influence has naturally extended beyond the borders of Okahia Kingdom. His selection by his peers to serve as the Chairman of the Obingwa Traditional Rulers Council (2020-2023) and his continuous membership in the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council are testaments to the high regard in which he is held. He is a respected voice, a leader of leaders, and a stabilizing force within the state’s traditional institution.

Furthermore, HRM Eze Ananaba has been a notable cultural ambassador, representing the Igbo heritage on an international stage, such as at the World Igbo Congress in Boston and as a Royal Father in Detroit, Michigan, in 2006. His commitment to community well-being is equally profound, demonstrated by his appointments to the boards of the SDA Hospital and the Abia State College of Health Sciences and Management Technology.

As Okahia Kingdom celebrates His Majesty’s birthday today and looks forward to the official Silver Jubilee celebration on December 18th, they are not just honouring the longevity of a reign. They are celebrating a legacy of peaceful progress. They honour a man who has shown that tradition is not a relic of the past, but the foundation upon which a modern, educated, and prosperous community can be built.

We join the proud sons and daughters of Okahia, Obingwa, and all of Abia State in wishing HRM Eze OJ Ananaba a very happy 71st birthday and in congratulating him on this remarkable season of celebration. May his continued reign be blessed with wisdom, good health, and abundant prosperity for his people.
