Constitution Review sitting

The House of Representatives has announced the dates for a nationwide series of public hearings on Nigeria’s constitutional review, scheduled to hold from July 11 to 21, 2025. This move is part of efforts to ensure broader citizen participation in shaping the nation’s legal and institutional framework.

The announcement was made by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the House Committee on the Review of the Constitution, during a press briefing in Abuja.

“These hearings are designed to be open and participatory, enabling civil society organizations, professional bodies, traditional institutions, and other interest groups to express their views on critical national issues,” Kalu said.

The hearings will be held across 12 centers located in Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, with the goal of collecting public input on 86 Constitution Review Bills currently under consideration by the National Assembly.
