No fewer than four individuals have been feared killed following an attack by unidentified hoodlums in Ifite-Awka, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The incident, which occurred late on Wednesday, reportedly caused widespread panic, forcing residents to retreat to their homes and compelling traders to abruptly shut their shops.
Eyewitnesses indicated that the assailants targeted multiple locations, including Book Foundation Junction, Ukwu Aki Bus Stop, “B” Bus Stop, Commissioners’ Quarters, and the Bamboo area. During the attack, they allegedly kidnapped the manager of a prominent hotel, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
Local sources disclosed that the assailants killed three individuals at Book Foundation Junction and one person at Ukwu Aki Bus Stop. A resident mentioned that the attackers also stormed a hotel in Commissioners’ Quarters, abducting the manager and allegedly demanding a ransom of N12 million, down from an initial demand of N20 million.

A community member reported additional violence on Thursday morning, claiming one person was shot dead near Ukwu Aki Bus Stop. Residents have expressed fears over the increasing violence, describing the situation as alarming and urging caution.
Efforts to obtain comments from hotel officials confirmed the incident, though they declined to elaborate. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, called on relatives of the victims to step forward to assist with investigations.
