The well-attended event brought together women from all the ten (10) electoral wards of Ukwa East LGA. In the spirit of appreciation and empowerment, the Deputy Mayor distributed assorted gift items to the groups, including foodstuffs, clothing, and other essential household items, to support them as they ushered in the new year.

She praised their immense contributions to community development and nation-building, with particular emphasis on their steadfast support for Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, the performing Governor of Abia State.

According to her, the women of Ukwa East have continued to demonstrate loyalty, courage, and unity in standing behind a government that prioritises good governance and people-centred development.
The women groups in attendance included widows’ associations, Onu Ugu Women for Dr. Alex Otti, Abia Arise, Me and You Women Group, Physically Challenged Persons, Echiche Oma Women Association, various pro-groups, as well as other women who joined the celebration in solidarity and goodwill.

The atmosphere was charged with joy and gratitude as the women sang songs of praise to God, danced cheerfully, and poured encomiums on the Deputy Mayor for her thoughtfulness, compassion, and inclusive leadership. Many described the event as a rare show of genuine care and encouragement that strengthened their sense of belonging and renewed their hope for a better future.
The end-of-year party not only served as a moment of celebration, but also as a reaffirmation of the vital role women play in sustaining families, communities, and democratic governance in Ukwa East and Abia State at large.
