Oral Roberts University (ORU), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, in affiliation with the Christ-Centered School of Theology, Aba, has officially appointed Bishop Nwankpa as a Professor of Biblical Theology, marking a significant milestone in the global expansion of the university’s Spirit-empowered academic mission.
The high-profile event, held at Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, featured a colorful ceremony that included matriculation, appointment of professors, and the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees (Honoris Causa). It was organized by ORU’s Port Harcourt Study Centre in conjunction with the Christ-Centered School of Theology in Aba, an affiliate institution of the American university.

Though unable to attend in person, ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson was represented by the university’s African Representative, Rev. (Prof.) J.H.U. Richard, who presided over the official appointment of Bishop Nwankpa and other distinguished figures. Other top university officials present included Prof. Joe T.A. Gambo, Deputy Provost (Academics), and Apostle Daniel Ndukwe, Provost of the Aba center.
Bishop Nwankpa, a respected theologian, pastor, and author with over two decades of ministry and academic engagement, expressed deep gratitude to ORU for the honor. In his acceptance speech, he pledged to continue supporting the university’s vision of delivering Spirit-led, transformational education across Africa and beyond.
“This appointment is not just a personal elevation, but a call to deeper service,” Bishop Nwankpa said. “I thank the Oral Roberts University family for this honor, and I assure you of my unrelenting support for this noble mission.”
In a further gesture of commitment, Bishop Nwankpa made a cash donation to support the development of the Christ-Centered School of Theology, demonstrating his enduring investment in Christian education.
