In a bold move to restore normalcy and economic vibrancy in Anambra State, the Police Command has intensified its campaign against the illegal sit-at-home order, urging residents to resume their daily activities without fear.
Leading the sensitization effort, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc mnips PhD, took to the streets alongside security personnel, educating Ndi Anambra on the detrimental impact of the directive. He emphasized that the state’s economy, largely dependent on trade and commerce, must not be allowed to suffer due to fear and intimidation.
“Ndi Anambra, your businesses matter. The state mainly survives on buying and selling, and we cannot allow fear to cripple our economy. Security agencies are fully on the ground to protect you. Anybody that tells you to sit at home on Monday, your response should be: ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo,’” CP Orutugu declared, reinforcing the message that residents should reject any attempts to instill fear.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, also assured the public of the police’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He encouraged residents to report any threats or intimidation to security agencies, reaffirming that the police and other security forces are fully prepared to neutralize any security threats.
Residents who spoke with our correspondent expressed mixed reactions, with some acknowledging the need to return to business while others cited lingering concerns over safety. However, with the increased presence of security forces, many are hopeful that normalcy will soon be fully restored.
As Anambra Police continue their advocacy, the state awaits to see whether the renewed security measures will successfully dissuade compliance with the illegal sit-at-home order and revitalize economic activities across the region.
