Former presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has applauded the formal adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by a coalition of political actors ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing it as a courageous step toward building a united and people-focused Nigeria.
Obi made the announcement in a post yesterday, confirming that the coalition has appointed Distinguished Senator David Mark as the National Chairman of the ADC, with H.E. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola taking on the role of National Secretary.
Describing the development as the result of “deep reflection,” Obi emphasized the coalition’s resolve to work and sacrifice for the emergence of a competent, capable, and compassionate leadership in 2027—one that will prioritize the welfare of ordinary Nigerians and put the country’s future first.

“This decision was not made lightly,” Obi stated. “It comes from deep reflection on where we are as a country and what must be done to move forward.”
He stressed the need for collaboration across party and ethnic lines, noting that no single group or individual can fix the nation’s challenges alone.
“To dismantle the structures that keep our people in poverty and insecurity, we must build bridges, not walls—even when those bridges are uneasy,” he said.
Capping his statement with a message of hope, Obi reiterated his long-standing mantra: “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
The endorsement of the ADC by such a high-level coalition, coupled with the strategic appointments of Mark and Aregbesola, signals the birth of a potentially influential political force ahead of the 2027 elections. Analysts believe this realignment could redefine the balance of power as disillusionment with the current political order continues to grow among voters.
