As controversies continue to trail the conduct and outcomes of the November 2, Abia State local government elections, Dr NCNC Okoli, the chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has rejected the Aba South results.
Describing the results as ‘a broad daylight robbery and predetermined’, Macro said that they did not in any way reflect the choices of the people of Aba South, as the 49,693 votes credited to the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party were fictitious.
Speaking to newsmen on Sunday, the multiple-time chairman of Aba South said:
“We have just heard the results as announced by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC. The results do not reflect what transpired on Saturday, and do not in any way represent the choices which the people of Aba South made on Saturday. It is a broad daylight robbery and predetermined. The chairmanship and councillorship elections were clearly won by the candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The 49,693 votes credited to the chairmanship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party were fictitious. It is totally unacceptable to us. We reject it outright. We won the election, and they know it.”

The results, as announced by ABSIEC, which returned the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party winner, shows that ZLP scored 49,683 votes, with APGA coming second with 24,039 votes, while YPP, LP and PDP had 14935, 9262, and 8364 votes respectively.
Macro further appealed to his teeming supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, and assured them that as a serious candidate, he would explore all legal options to reclaim his mandate which, according to him, was ‘brazenly stolen’
