Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has urged the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to mobilize contractors to complete abandoned projects across the state.
Otti made the request during a visit from the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh, and his team.
He highlighted outstanding debts owed to contractors as the primary reason for project abandonment and called for assistance in resolving payment issues.
“We have several abandoned NDDC projects in Abia State due to unpaid debts since 2018. If payment issues are resolved, contractors can return to work,” Otti emphasized.
He underscored the importance of both the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the NDDC to Abia State and appreciated the Minister for visiting to assess the situation firsthand.
In response, the Minister praised Governor Otti for infrastructure development and improved security in Abia, urging continued prioritization of peace for economic prosperity.
He emphasized collaboration between the Ministry and the NDDC for meaningful development, stressing the need for a strong relationship to achieve results.
