Alex Ikwecheghi, the House of Representatives member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency, is under intense scrutiny after a viral video allegedly captured him physically assaulting and threatening an Uber driver at his Abuja residence.

The video, recorded by the driver unbeknownst to Ikwecheghi, shows the lawmaker slapping and verbally intimidating the driver, who had been dispatched to deliver an order to Ikwecheghi’s home. According to sources, the altercation began when the driver requested that the lawmaker retrieve his ordered items from the car and make the payment. This request reportedly enraged Ikwecheghi, who refused to pay and allegedly deemed the driver’s tone disrespectful.

In the video, Ikwecheghi can be heard on the phone with a woman, questioning her on why she sent the driver to his house. But his comments escalated, with the lawmaker allegedly issuing a series of threats against the driver, saying, “Do you know who I am?” and “I will lock you up in my generator house.” At one point, he reportedly warned, “I can make you disappear from this Abuja,” sparking alarm for the driver’s safety.
